A summary of the movie ‘Seven Pounds’.
Justice shall be served. That was the final judgment that was assigned to Tim by the court he created in his own mind.
Tim is a man who had made a mistake; nothing new, nothing old, just another imperfect human with imperfect actions. Some may call Tim a perfection seeker, but he was so far away from being perfect. The movie is about a man who has taken the lives of 7 people with a stupid mistake. In order to make up for his sin; he decided to give 7 people some precious gifts that life had already taken away from them.
Choosing to kill himself; Tim decided to donate his organs to those who have lost theirs; starting from his lungs, all the way to his heart. Living with guilt is a road going all the way to the insanity lands and whatever is beyond. This movie showed how guilt; can literally eat a man alive.
Although delivering a great journey of a one man’s way of dealing with grief and guilt; the movie tried to romanticize suicide; as in convincing the audience that suicide is okay if it had some really noble reasons behind it.
It showed how a man could completely neglect himself and his life in order to make others' better. That is no right way to deal with mistakes.
The movie definitely delivers sacrifice at its finest; not only a sacrifice by organs; but also by spirit. Giving back to people was never a mistake, but what we choose to give is a debatable issue here. The movie shows grief in a beautifully sad story. It teaches so many things; it teaches dealing with mistakes; dealing with grief, and most importantly; dealing with a mind that has already lost all senses when it comes to why it should continue living.
